J·Vigas will participate in the Spanish wine tractor project, presented by a consortium coordinated by the Spanish Wine Federation (FEV), Innsomnia Accelerator, and the consulting firm Deloitte, which has been awarded within the help lines of the PERTE Agri-food within the framework of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan ( Next Generation fonds).

The project, with an estimated investment of 16 million euros, consists of eleven primary projects comprised in the 3 blocks included in the PERTE order: competitiveness (digitalization), sustainability and traceability.

One of the primary projects will cover the research and development of new materials for the improvement of cork as an oenological tool.

“This project is a milestone for our company, since we firmly believe in the importance of collaboration between the wine sector and the cork sector to improve and innovate together,” comments Raül Vigas, CEO of J·Vigas.

“From the J·Vigas R&D department we work hand in hand with wineries to respond to their needs. This important project is a great opportunity for us as a company, and also for the entire cork sector. We are going to follow the lines of research detected in previous projects, and we are going to continue investigating to obtain knowledge about the origin of the causes and not about the consequences,” says the Director of Sustainability and Innovation of J·Vigas, Raquel de Nadal.

Other projects range from the development of a comprehensive digitalization system of the entire value chain through the implementation of new technologies to the research of disruptive technologies based on blockchain and artificial intelligence to trace the “wine journey” from the vineyard to the consumer. .

Likewise, the project includes issues related to the cybersecurity of companies, the development of innovative solutions for the reuse of emissions and revaluation of waste in the production chain or the adaptation of industrial warehouses and innovative equipment and facilities for self-consumption and renewable storage, for the improvement of energy efficiency..
