WITHOUT FILTERS \u00b7 Ribera del Duero<\/span><\/h1>\n

The Without Filters<\/em> event gathered wine professionals to explore how different closure systems influence wine evolution<\/span><\/p>\n

What can we discover when we put wine to the test and let experience do the talking?<\/strong><\/p>\n

This idea gave rise to Without Filters<\/strong><\/a><\/span>, a J\u00b7VIGAS project that brings together winemakers and wine professionals through comparative tastings and the study of wine evolution and closure.<\/p>\n

On 2 June, the project arrived in Valladolid with J\u00b7VIGAS and Sys Oenological, the company\u2019s representatives in the D.O. Ribera del Duero<\/strong>. A small group of professionals had the opportunity to share experiences, exchange knowledge and observe in the glass how the same wine can evolve differently depending on the closure system.<\/p>\n

Rather than explaining a theory, Without Filters invites us to observe, compare and discuss through wine<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Knowledge, research and reflection<\/h2>\n

 <\/p>\n

The event began with a welcome address by Laura Fern\u00e1ndez<\/strong>, Managing Director of Sys Oenological<\/a><\/span><\/strong>, who highlighted the importance of creating spaces for transparent dialogue between wineries and cork producers.<\/p>\n

Raquel de Nadal<\/strong>, Sustainability and Innovation Director at J\u00b7Vigas, then delivered a masterclass focused on the behaviour of different closure systems. Drawing on scientific studies, specialised publications and research projects, she explored key topics such as oxygen transfer, the sensory evolution of wine in bottle and the environmental impact of the various alternatives available on the market.<\/p>\n

Her presentation provided attendees with a technical, oenological and sustainability-focused perspective, offering valuable insights for informed decision-making.<\/p>\n

Natural cork as an ally of wine<\/h2>\n

During the session, Raul Vigas<\/strong>, CEO of J\u00b7Vigas, shared his thoughts on the current challenges facing both the wine and cork industries. Quality, sustainability, innovation and commitment to the territory were among the themes of his presentation, which highlighted the strategic role of natural cork in the evolution of wine and the future of the sector.<\/p>\n

A comparative tasting to observe without prejudice<\/h2>\n

The highlight of the event was a comparative tasting designed to encourage technical analysis and the exchange of views among participants.<\/p>\n

Attendees tasted the same wine sealed with two different closure systems: a natural cork and a technical cork.<\/p>\n

The main conclusion of the session was that decisions regarding closure systems should never be taken lightly.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Participants were able to see for themselves how replacing a natural cork with a technical closure can significantly influence the evolution of a wine and may even compromise its expression over time.<\/p>\n

A conversation that continues<\/h2>\n

 <\/p>\n

The event concluded with an aperitif, providing an opportunity to continue conversations in a relaxed atmosphere and encourage further exchanges between wineries and wine professionals.<\/p>\n

Through initiatives such as Without Filters<\/strong><\/em>, J\u00b7Vigas reaffirms its commitment to research, transparency and continuous improvement. Because excellence does not arise from unquestioned certainties, but from the willingness to keep observing, learning and challenging assumptions.<\/p>\n

Since 1887, this has also been our way of understanding cork.<\/p>\n
